Transport Wheelchairs - Transport wheelchairs, are defined by their four smaller wheels, they are built for outdoor use and they are super lightweight to carry and setup -some weighing as low as 14.5 lbs. Transport chairs fold down compactly to fit into any car or closet. Note: transport chairs are pushed by a companion only; the seated user cannot self propel in a transport wheelchair.
Manual Wheelchairs - Manual Wheelchairs are defined by their two large wheels in the back, where a user can self propel using hand-rims. They come in 5 general categories to suite your needs:
- Standard Wheelchairs - These are your basic economy wheelchairs, the are good for indoor/outdoor use and light commercial use. However, they are heavy which is an important factor when considering the user will have to push that weight. Plus, it pay to think about lift these chairs into a car when traveling.
- Lightweight Wheelchairs - Made from lighter materials, these wheelchair resemble their standard-type cousins. Generally, these chairs have better wheels and bearings, plus the lower weight, that make more efficient to self-propel or push by companion.
- Reclining Back Wheelchairs - Reclining wheelchairs, as the name implies, allow the seated users to recline in their chair. Reclining wheelchairs reach an almost reach a full recline.
- Heavy Duty Wheelchairs - Heavy duty wheelchairs are built specifically for users that need a wider seat and higher weight capacity. Our heavy duty wheelchairs can accommodate users up to 700 lbs. and with seat widths up to 30".

Medicare will pay for 80% of a wheelchair’s cost if you meet Medicare’s “medical necessity” regulations. Medicare will choose a wheelchair for you, you will not have a choice which chair you receive. Call 1800MEDICARE to see if you are eligible for Medicare to reimburse you for your wheelchair (If approved Medicare will pay up to 80%. We do not accept Medicare or any Insurance as payment.
Where Can I Get A Free wheelchair?
Great question! Free wheelchairs are a little hard to come by, you can always ask your local church or temple if they have any donated wheelchairs. Of course, you can try and get a free wheelchair via Medicare, Medicaid, or your Insurance. Most people avoid used wheelchairs because of hygiene reasons as we don’t know who used the wheelchair beforehand. Also, these days you can purchase a brand new wheelchair for under $150.00 and shipping is FREE!
What Should I Look for when buying a wheelchair?
- Chair weight capacity - Most wheelchairs will carry a weight of up to 250 lbs. If you weigh over 250 lbs you will need a heavy-duty wheelchair that has a wider seat with a higher weight capacity
- Chair Width - Is the wheelchair seat wide enough for comfortable sitting (measuring the width of your bum is a great idea) Most wheelchairs come in three-seat sizes: Narrow 16”, Medium 18” and Wide 20”+
- Home - Measure your narrowest doorway to make sure the overall width of your wheelchair will fit through easily. The standard doorway in the USA is 36”, the standard wheelchairs’ over-all width is 26” however many doorways, especially bathroom doors can be narrower than 36”
- Lifestyle - If you will be taking the wheelchair outside the home and into a car make sure your wheelchair is light enough to lift into a car. Here are our lightweight wheelchairs.
- Armrests - Removable armrests are super helpful if you need easier access in and out of your chair.

Yes! 90% of our wheelchairs are returnable within 30 days if your wheelchair is in clean condition and in the original packaging (some may have a small restocking fee). See individual wheelchair return policy. Only our custom made to order chairs such as the Quickie and TiLite wheelchair brands is non-refundable as they are custom-tailored to you, the customer.
